đź“–Sunday Recap

This past Sunday we wrapped up our series on worship by looking at Psalm 145, a psalm of praise written by David near the end of his life. We began with a story of a tourist at Niagara Falls who was so focused on taking a selfie that they nearly lost their life. It was a reminder that when we make life all about ourselves, we miss the bigger picture and often put ourselves in danger. Psalm 145 calls us to lift our eyes off of ourselves and fix them on the greatness of God. David doesn’t begin with what we want or how we feel; he begins with who God is. He reminds us that God is worthy of worship because of His greatness, power, goodness, compassion, faithfulness, and love.

From there, David shows us how we should respond. Worship is personal as we choose to exalt God every day. It’s generational as we pass on His greatness to those who come after us. It’s verbal as we declare His goodness with our words. It’s communal as we join together as His people. And it’s eternal as worship never ends. The purpose of our worship is to magnify God’s kingdom and testify to the world about His glory. Just as a lighthouse shines to guide ships to safety, our worship points people to God’s salvation.

Psalm 145 challenges us to examine our hearts: Is our worship built on our circumstances or on God’s unchanging character? This week, let’s take intentional steps to live God-focused lives. Praise Him daily, not just on Sundays. Speak about His goodness to your family, neighbors, and friends. Let your worship extend beyond music and moments into every part of your life. When we take our eyes off ourselves and fix them on God, our lives become true worship, declaring His greatness now and forever.

Small Groups
Begin September 21

It’s time to sign up for a small group! Whether it’s Sunday evening at the church, in someone’s home, or during the week, there’s a place for you. Last year, about 40 people joined a small group, we’d love to see even more this year. Our hope is that everyone would find a group where they feel known, encouraged, and spiritually fed.

Why are small groups important?

  • They help us grow deeper in our walk with Christ.
  • They create space for honest questions and real conversations.
  • They give us people to lean on, pray with, and walk through life beside.
  • They help the church stay connected outside of Sunday mornings.

Stop by the sign up sheet in the lobby to sign-up. Let’s take a step toward community, together.
