đź“–Sunday Recap

This past Sunday, we continued our journey through Matthew in a new series entitled “Encountering His Authority”. After hearing Jesus teach on the hillside, Matthew 8 brings us down the mountain to see that the King who speaks with authority now acts with authority. The same voice that declared, “Blessed are the poor in spirit,” now reaches out to touch the untouchable, heal the broken, and restore what’s been lost. Jesus doesn’t just talk about truth, He transforms reality.

In Matthew 8:1–17, we saw three encounters that reveal the scope of Jesus’ authority. The leper teaches us to bring our need to Jesus, no matter how untouchable we feel. The Roman centurion shows us what it looks like to trust His authority, believing that Jesus’ word is enough, even from a distance. And Peter’s mother‑in‑law reminds us to rest in God’s plan, knowing that Jesus cares about both the extraordinary and the everyday pains of life. Through each of these stories, Matthew reminds us that our King’s authority extends to every kind of need.

In life, we all face needs that feel heavy, hidden, or beyond repair, but those are the very places Jesus invites us to bring to Him. Whatever you’re carrying, bring it honestly to His feet. Trust that His authority is greater than anything you face, and rest in His perfect plan, knowing He cares deeply and works faithfully even when you can’t see how. As you bring your needs, trust His power, and rest in His purpose, you’ll find your awe and confidence in Jesus renewed.
