đź“–Sunday Recap
This week’s message from Matthew 8:28–34 centered on the authority of Jesus and how no one encounters Him without being changed. In this passage, Jesus steps into a situation no one could explain or fix—two men completely overtaken by darkness, and with a word, everything shifts. What no one else could control, Jesus overpowers. The reminder is clear: what feels uncontrollable to us is not uncontrollable to Him.
The focus wasn’t just on what Jesus did, but how people responded. The demons recognized His authority and submitted. The restored man surrendered and followed. But the townspeople, even after seeing what happened, responded with fear and asked Jesus to leave. Not because they didn’t believe, but because His authority disrupted their sense of control and what felt normal.
That same tension exists for us. Jesus’ authority is not just something to believe in—it calls for a response. He still confronts the areas we try to manage, still brings freedom, and still changes lives. But often, resistance shows up as hesitation, fear, or holding onto control.
This week, take time to ask: where am I resisting Jesus’ authority? What am I afraid to give over? Instead of keeping Him at a distance, take a step toward surrender. Trust His authority in that area and let Him lead where you’ve been trying to hold on.
