James 1:19–27 reminds us that hearing God’s Word isn’t enough; knowing what’s right isn’t enough. If we don’t act on what God says, we deceive ourselves. Faith that never takes shape in obedience is no faith at all. True faith listens, learns, and lives differently. It responds with self-control, practices obedience, and lives with integrity. God’s Word isn’t just meant to be admired, it’s meant to be applied.

So the challenge for us is simple but demanding: what will we do with what we’ve heard? Will we be content to nod in agreement, or will we let God’s truth change how we speak, react, and live this week? Acting on God’s Word means choosing patience instead of anger, obedience instead of excuses, and integrity instead of compromise. The Word that saved us is the same Word that must shape us. God’s Word calls for action, not just attention, so let’s not walk away unchanged. Let’s act on what we hear.

October 12, after Sunday School

Join us for a carry-in lunch! The meat will be provided, just bring your favorite side dish or dessert to share. We hope to see everyone there for a great time of food and fellowship!

Fall Festival
Saturday, October 18th 

Join us for our Fall Festival on Saturday, October 18th from 3–6 p.m. at the West Salem Square! This free family event will have something for everyone; bounce house, pumpkin painting, hayrides, a petting zoo, and plenty of chili to enjoy. It’s a great way to celebrate the season together, and we’d love for you to bring your family and friends.

We’ll also need help for this event, and opportunities to serve will be announced at church.

Fall Community Worship Service
Sunday, October 19th @10am

After hearing so many people say, “Why don’t we do more of these?” following our summer community service, we’re excited to host a Fall Community Worship Service! Join us on Sunday, October 19th at 10 a.m., the morning after Fall Fest. Seth Schnautz will be sharing the message, and we’d love for you to come worship with us.
