đź“–Sunday Recap
Many believers have asked, “I just wish God would show me what I’m supposed to do.” In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus does exactly that. In Matthew 5–7, He speaks with authority, not offering vague guidance or self-help advice, but clearly describing what life looks like under His reign.
Jesus begins with the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1–12), not as instructions to earn God’s favor, but as declarations of identity. These blessings describe the kind of people who belong to God’s Kingdom. Spoken by Jesus—the promised Messiah and rightful King—they carry weight and authority. They reveal what God values, overturn the world’s priorities, and identify true followers of Christ.
Each beatitude is anchored in promise. Jesus assures His followers of the Kingdom, comfort, inheritance, satisfaction, mercy, God’s presence, and a close relationship with the Father. These promises sustain faithful obedience, reminding us that Kingdom living is costly, but worth it.
God has already shown us what He expects. The question is whether our lives reflect it. Do the Beatitudes describe us, or do we want the blessings without the cost? Following Jesus means submitting to His authority and trusting His promises, even when it’s difficult. Kingdom living is not easy, but it is truly blessed.
